Who Is Savita Punia?
Savita Punia (born 11 July 1990) is an Indian field hockey player. She is also known as the Great Wall of India. Her efforts were also acknowledged when she received the FIH Women’s Goalkeeper Of The Year award for three consecutive seasons (2020–21, 2021–22, 2022–23). Savita Punia, India’s star hockey goalkeeper received the Baljit Singh Goalkeeper Of The Year award in 2015.
Way Forward
Punia and her team claimed the limelight by showcasing their skills and talent during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Though they lost to Great Britain by 3-4 during the bronze medal round, they were applauded for being successful in proving their potential and bringing hope to India.
