Cricketer Anaya Bangar Undergoes Gender-Affirming Surgery; Thanks Dad’s Support

Ananya Bangar, the daughter of cricket commentator Sanjay Bangar, shared that she underwent gender-affirming surgery in Thailand. She posted an update on social media, reflecting on the support from her family. “This journey wasn’t easy, not just for me, but for my family too. Understanding, accepting, and standing by me took time… But today, standing here, I’m filled with nothing but gratitude,” she wrote.

Anaya thanked her father’s support throughout the journey. “To have my father beside me through one of the most important moments of my life means everything. His support didn’t come overnight but when it did, it was real, unconditional, and strong,” she added.

    Who is Anaya Bangar?

Anaya Bangar is a cricketer, social media influencer, and the daughter of commentator Sanjay Bangar. Born Aryan Bangar, she has candidly shared about the hardships she faced as part of the sports community during her gender transition. She has become a voice for the LGBT community and is actively sharing her personal journey, gaining significant attention on social media.

Before transitioning, Anaya played cricket for local clubs, representing Islam Gymkhana and Hinckley Cricket Club in Leicestershire. She currently resides in Manchester and is an active presence on Instagram, where she frequently shares updates about her life.

    Opening Up About Difficult Journey

In interviews, Ananya has openly discussed the difficulties and harassment she has experienced as a transgender woman. Speaking to Lallantop, she revealed in 2025, “I had to maintain secrecy about myself because Dad is a well-known figure. The cricket world is filled with insecurity and toxic masculinity,” she had said.

Despite these troubling experiences, Ananya spoke about her journey of self-discovery. “For me, it was when I was eight or nine years old; I used to pick clothes from my mom’s cupboard and wear them. Then, I used to look into the mirror and say, ‘I am a girl. I want to be a girl,’” she revealed.
