Behind that visual language are makeup department head artist Donni Davy and costume designer Natasha Newman Thomas, both building a world where beauty isn’t decoration. It is the narrative.

Glam with Intent: Makeup That Reveals More Than It Hides

Led by makeup artist Donni Davy, Euphoria Season 3 shifts into what she calls “capital G glam.” This is high contrast, emotionally loaded glam that feels almost confrontational.

Think sharp inner corner eyeliner, heavy tightlining, frosty lips and skin so glossy it reflects more than just light. Even blue eyeshadow returns, not as a trend but as a signal of both instability and intensity. The makeup is not random. It is deeply tied to where each character stands in life.

Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) full body shimmer and hyper polished glow mirror her storyline perfectly. As she spirals into a performative version of femininity, even entering adult influencer spaces and building a life around visibility, her makeup becomes louder and harder to ignore. It is makeup designed to demand attention.

Maddy, played by Alexa Demie, goes in the opposite direction. Her glam is controlled, precise and almost corporate. Working in Hollywood PR, she is no longer experimenting. Her sharp liner and structured face feel like a résumé you can wear.

Rue, portrayed by Zendaya, stays grounded. Her minimal, skin first makeup reflects her ongoing struggle with addiction and survival. While others are performing adulthood, Rue is still trying to just survive.

Meanwhile Jules strips everything back. After emotional burnout, her muted palette and bleached brows feel like a protective shield. Less color, less exposure, less vulnerability.

In short, makeup this season is not about looking good. It is about telling you who is losing control, who is faking it and who is trying to hold it together.

Costume designer Natasha Newman Thomas had one clear brief. Adulthood is a performance and everyone is dressing for the role they want. Each character’s wardrobe feels like a carefully constructed identity.

Cassie leans into hyper femininity with tight silhouettes, bridal aesthetics and over polished looks. Her now confirmed wedding storyline with Nate is not just a plot point, it defines her entire visual language. She dresses like someone chasing a fantasy life, even when it is clearly slipping.

Maddy’s wardrobe screams access. Designer heels, vintage couture, and structured outfits reflect her proximity to power in Los Angeles. She is no longer trying to “look rich.” She is dressing like someone who has stepped into that world or at least very close to it.

Nate’s styling is where things get psychologically sharp. His mix of luxury labels like Bottega Veneta with everyday workwear creates a dual identity. He wants to look like a grounded, hardworking man while quietly signaling wealth to the right people. It is manipulation through clothing.

When Style Becomes Storytelling

What makes Season 3 stand out is how tightly everything is connected. Makeup, wardrobe, lighting and even set design are all working together to reflect the character’s internal states. This is what Euphoria does best. It turns aesthetics into psychology.
